In the News — Local AI Goes Mainstream
Why we built OniX Agents to run locally in the first place.
Industry moves that echo why OniX AI Agents exist.
NVIDIA and Perplexity Launch a Fully Local AI Agent
In August 2026, NVIDIA and Perplexity partnered to launch Portable Computer — an AI agent that runs entirely on your own hardware, with zero token costs and no data leaving your device unless you approve it. NVIDIA's own developer lead called it a sign that "local AI reached an inflection point." It's the same principle behind every OniX AI Agent: your data stays on your machine, and nobody — not even us — sees what you're searching for.

Further reading: the industry press covered this widely — Android Authority, HotHardware, and The Register all ran their own takes on what it means for local AI going mainstream.
Even Big Pharma Is Going Quiet on Early Research
Eli Lilly has stopped disclosing its Phase 1 pipeline in earnings presentations and on its own corporate website. The company now joins Merck as one of the only major drugmakers actively concealing early-stage programs — company officials point to intense competitive pressure in fast-moving spaces like obesity, metabolic disease, and oncology as the driver, according to Endpoints News.
It's a rational move for Lilly. It's also a real problem for everyone else trying to track where the next therapeutic opportunity is coming from.
For BD, scouting, and competitive intelligence teams across the US, UK, EU, and Asia, this is the direction of travel: official disclosure is shrinking right as the number of active development programs keeps growing. The companies you most want visibility into are exactly the ones with the most reason to stay quiet.
Here's the good news: government funding data isn't going anywhere. It's still public, still comprehensive, and it still shows up long before a company chooses to announce anything. Every NIH SBIR/STTR award, every Innovate UK company grant, every Horizon Europe or Horizon 2020 EIC Accelerator award is a real signal, filed with a government agency, months or years before a press release.
That's the exact gap OniX AI Agents are built to close — connecting government funding signals, publications, patents, and clinical trial activity into one sourced picture across the US, UK, EU, and 100+ countries globally, so your team can see who's building something long before it becomes visible through conventional channels.
